"Wagon Guy drives a Boostang" (gimmeboost)

My weekend has gotten off to a bad start.
This being Texas, the parking lot at work is filled with oversized pickup trucks for no apparent reason. We all work in offices, not “out on the range”. I was parked next to one of these oversized behemoths, a four door, long bed, 4x4 Chevy. I started backing out, thought I was clear and began turning the wheel only to hear this crunch...
Crap, crap, crap.
I refuse to cause any vehicle altercation an “accident”, preferring collision. All collisions have someone at fault, this time it’s me.
I made sure the poor truck wasn’t hurt (It wasn’t.) and drove home in the semi-dark to take the blurry photo you see here before contacting USAA and making the claim. I already have a rental car reservation and now am just waiting to hear back from my preferred body shop to get in and get the estimate. It’s just the rear quarter panel and a little paint. Hell most of this will likely be out of my pocket.
crap, crap, crap.
I did not need this...
< UPDATE >
So I got a 10am appointment at the body shop. Their preliminary quote is just over $1200 and they were able to get it in immediately with a 5 day quoted turnaround.
So it goes in on Monday morning at 8am. I have a car rental reservation for a week, and the insurance company has already made an initial payment ot the body shop for the work (minus my deductible). I have one weekend with a dent, then fixed before next weekend.

Not quite a Camry dent. This is actually dented sheet metal, not the bumper end. Giant pickup truck bumpers don’t actually line up with the bumpers of lowered Mustangs...

Hey, on the bright side you actually earned your Texas Pinstripe, plus your car looks like you’ve been drifting or autocrossing. Temporary street cred til you get it fixed. Glad it’s nothing that keeps the car from being driveable. And you have USAA, which is generally awesome.

Ugh! That sucks!
Confession: I’ve been at fault in every collision I’ve been involved it. They were all at well under 10 mph. I’ve always just paid out of pocket for them.

yeah. And since
I have autocross events tomorrow and next Saturday I’m sort of hoping I can sneak it in on Monday and have a dent for tomorrow’s runs, then next week act like, “what dent?”

Maybe you’ll get lucky and the left side will get hit by someone else. That’s always my secret wish when I have minor body damage.

HA! it would have to happen between now and 10am when I head to the body shop.
I’m really anal about driving a clean car, so having a dent drives me nuts.

I will say at least you have USAA. All of my auto insurance dealings with them, be it my fault or not, have been great. I haven’t even ever shopped around for other auto insurance.

yeah, it’s been super easy and they’ve been really responsive. Found out I have accident forgiveness on my policy, and since I haven’t had an at-fault incident in years I should even be OK for my premiums in the long haul.

Yeah, my premiums have been high since I moved to the flood plain in Houston, so they really can’t go up much more. But I understand - they have paid for 5 flooded cars in two years.
